Patient Care Technician

A patient care technician (PCT) is a healthcare worker who provides basic patient care and assistance to patients in hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare settings. Roles of a Patient Care Technician:

• Making sure that patient rooms are clean, safe, and ready for patients
• Vital signs monitoring like measuring respiratory rate, heart rate (including its rhythm), blood pressure, and temperature
• Responsible for collecting specimens of patient like blood, urine or other specimens for laboratory testing
• Maintaining the record of the patients
• Helping out the doctor during the treatment of a patient
• Providing care to the patient by listening to their concerns and guiding them accordingly
• Helping out the patients in their daily routine like eating, bathing etc.
• Providing emotional support to the patient
